ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. is an aid and welfare organisation. The Regional Confederation is a legally and operationally independent organisation of Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Germany and is committed to a workers’ movement tradition.

Our goal is the provision of services of general interest for all people living in our confederation area, who are in need of help and company. We accept and respect all individuals regardless of their political, ideological or religious beliefs.

Monetary profit is not at the heart of our work but foremost the fulfilment of people’s individual needs. We want to accompany them in their lives with our offers and services.

Apart from the general tasks of an aid and welfare organisation ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. has set its sights on creating and managing regionally rooted and specialised facilities for inpatient geriatric care. We pay the utmost attention to the establishment and development of outpatient structures that will inform and accompany individuals throughout their whole life.

However, not every single structure shall be created by the Confederation itself. For this purpose the Confederation is also promoting existing facilities and services by other providers worthy of support by means of financial and organisational assistance. This way we are connecting offers with the aim of networking instead of giving rise to competition.

ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. has recognised that these goals will only be achieved if a traditional confederation structure is complemented by professional expertise providing the chance to tap the markets according to modern principles. In a modern and flat hierarchy our highly qualified and highly motivated staff will have the opportunity to further develop and cultivate their abilities and skills.

In order to ensure our own continued existence in view of an increasing competition within the social sector and in order to further guarantee existing structures for people in need of care, the Confederation will have to accomplish its tasks in an efficient and professional way. In doing so, it is vital to permanently monitor the accruing costs and to optimise them within the scope of a social confederation.

The profits made will be invested in order to consolidate our successful facilities and services for the future, to create new care offers and to support social projects in our Confederation area. Although the ASB is occasionally working in the background, we are always stressing our commitment and support for the people living in the confederation’s area.

Politicians determine framework conditions for every offer within the social sector. Therefore, ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. intensely cultivates its relations to politicians and other socially important decision-making bodies and contributes with its expertise where it thinks fit. Thereby the Confederation is pursuing a critical but constructive dialogue making sure that its professional messages reach the deciding authorities.

The responsibility for guaranteeing a decent existence and providing offers for social services goes beyond our confederation area! Based on selected contacts and long-term projects ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V also provides swift and effective help for people living in other countries. In doing so, its utmost priority is to support the weakest members of the global community.

The sphere of influence of ASB Regional Confederation e.V. is at the heart of a peacefully united Europe counting meanwhile 27 member states. In order to become acquainted with future developments in the Confederation’s working area, to discover groundbreaking structures of other countries and to foster the development of aid offers from less developed countries, it is indispensable to ensure an efficient and increasingly growing connection between the Confederation and like-minded service providers throughout Europe.
