ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. has proven time and again to be a reliable and committed partner for the cities in its sphere of influence regarding numerous projects. When it comes to designing social services the Confederation is working together with others in order to implement and connect creative ideas, such as the “Rucksack Group”, a project where Turkish women learn German in Kindergarten. In 2007 the successful series “Cinema Café” for older cinema buffs attracted approximately 5,000 people to the film events and a get-together afterwards taking place at the cinema Film Welt Herne. Moreover, the ASB has provided logistic support and a generous donation for making possible the establishment of the charity organisation called Herner Tafel e.V. that is aiding people in need with food.
The framework for social commitment and health economy is set by laws and regulations, with reforms and developments always being subject to the process of long political and social discussions. In current critical discussions regarding the further development of nursing care insurance and the German Residential Homes Act, ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. has voiced its opinion again and yet again making its position clear and its message has reached the deciding authorities.
