The Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund is increasingly offering outpatient services

The Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund has long ago established its reputation as a provider of inpatient nursing homes and residential care facilities in Herne and Gelsenkirchen – now competency and experience in the field of care and counselling services will also be delivered to your home. Our aim is to achieve a close interconnection between highly specialised inpatient facilities and additional offers for outpatient rehabilitation and therapeutic services.

The successful ASB info-points made the start. The info-points are meanwhile offering advice and support concerning all questions about aging in two locations in Herne and Wanne-Eickel by applying the advanced case management approach:

Based on the holistic concept of support in the Confederation’s inpatient nursing homes, the individual resources and requirements of a client are analysed taking into account his or her personal life experience. The obtained results are integrated into a precisely coordinated therapeutic concept which is then implemented by a multi-professional team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and geriatric therapists as well as experts in household-related support. Especially people suffering from dementia will be able to maintain many of their abilities as long as possible with the help of exercise programmes performed in their day-to-day life. This has led to new professional groups and new members of staff working at ASB. Different professional groups are working closely together in a well-functioning and multi-professional team: Therapists, nurses and care professionals, nutritionists, social workers as well as speech and language therapists and remedial teachers.
The Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund by itself, or with the help of other partner service providers, is also able to make sure that personal hygiene is well coordinated with this concept of support.

This kind of care provision can also be made available to people requiring special or high-level care.
In specialised residential units the ASB is already now offering competent care services to young people requiring care prresidents in need of permanent respiratory support. It might also be possible to offer these special care services within their own four walls – the very same specialised staff caring for the patient at home remaining in charge of the patient if he or she needs to be transferred to an inpatient facility at a later point in time. This way it is possible to establish and in the long run even maintain confidence and individual knowledge about the wishes and needs of people requiring care – which goes beyond the admission to inpatient nursing home facilities usually evoking reluctance.

The pursued goal and challenge are:
To establish a smooth and well-functioning cooperation with medical and non-medical outpatient and inpatient facilities across the region, in order to arrange the best support-mix tailored to the individual needs of every resident or client.

Also in terms of support, services for disabled people and therapeutic services for people suffering from addiction or psychological problems the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Herne and Gelsenkirchen has embarked on new paths. In addition to the intensive initial treatment and therapies offered in Heyermanns Hof, a social-therapeutic residential home, we have considerably expanded our services regarding assisted living at home.
Self-determination and the possibility to lead an independent life within your own four walls, together with other affected people, while receiving daily help and support by the correspondent therapists, is an important step towards a normal life.
To this end we are offering different residential groups as well as numerous support services, such as reintegration support programmes into the labour market, work therapy as well as addiction counselling and life coaching.

But ASB Regional Confederation Herne-Gelsenkirchen e.V. is not on its own when expanding its range of outpatient services.
